My professional experience began in Denver after receiving a BFA in Interior Design and Art History minor in Texas.  Over the years I worked for two interior design firms and one architecture firm before joining my husband Bill in our design and construc- tion company - Dovetail: Design and Construction. Primarily, we do residential work, but I have experience in other types of commercial design as well.   Our work is mostly in the Denver area, though I will travel for color consultation. A color passion projected me into the IACC courses in the early 1990's and I was accredited in 1996.  My thesis is entitled "The Beneficial Effects of Color and Light in Childcare Environments". I am an accredited IACC color designer and a professional member of ASID.  I've served on the Board of IACCNA as treasurer, VP, and president, as well as the Board of Colorado ASID.

"Color! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams," wrote Paul Gauguin in the last century. Fernand Leger said, "Man needs color to live; its just as necessary an element as fire and water." And Chagall said, "Color is all. When color is right, form is right. Color is everything, color is vibration like music, and everything is vibration." Throughout our evolution, color has always played a vital part, creating harmony in the world and impacting health, wellness and every day living. Today, Gillian C. Rose, a New York-based interior designer and color scientist has taken her company The Science of Color to a new level by expanding her services. Served on the IACC_NA's Board of Directors, as Vice President and President Elect from 2009 - 2011. Rose emphasizes the importance of selecting the right colors for your life and environment- and more importantly knowing what colors are best for suited for you or your environment. "As a color scientist, influences affecting color are a part of who I am," says Rose. "Social and political issues, our environment, the economy and cultural diversity, all contribute to the sociology of color choices and inform us of our goals." Rose, a seasoned interior designer with clients across the globe ranging from a bank in Singapore, Weill Cornell Medicine, MoMA, corporate headquarters and private residences. Rose incorporates the Color of Science into her work by offering in-depth color consultations, which stress the fundamentals of color science for built environments. Questions such as "What is Color from a psychological understanding?" to "How do we recognize and under-stimulated room?" are all part of Rose's in-depth analysis in her consultation. Rose also administers a simple color test to better understand her clients personalities. "Imagine having a color palette designed for you, says Rose. "One that reflects who you are, how you want to feel, one that supports your health & sanity - wouldn't you want that? That's what we do. We are as individual as each color." The Science of Color provides an essential and proven tool for creating healthier and happier of environments. For individuals or businesses looking to re-create themselves, The Science of Color provides a simple & intuitive way to enhance any environment.

While pursuing my certification in Interior Design, I discovered how much I enjoy working with color, and helping others enhance their own design through the use of color. It was then that I decided to become certified through the IACC-NA, True Color, and Sensational Color. In each design I consider the lighting, the architectural elements, and the other finishes in the space. As I work with each client I help them to see the importance of choosing colors with the correct undertones, and how balancing warm and cool tones creates an inviting and visually interesting design.

Having a passion for color, art and design since I was young has always pushed me to expand my creative side. Since earning my BFA in Interior Design in 1992, my focus has primarily been Residential Design. In 2011, I began working for an architect firm as a Commercial Interior Designer. Although the two fields offer different design challenges, I consider the human response to color as the same for each. I strive to reflect this in my artwork as well. As I discover more, it is my desire to help others understand the significance of color, and teach them to think about the impact of color in our surroundings and in our lives. Being a creative-left-brained person, (or is that a logical-right-brain??) I was thrilled to discover the IACC and its scientific approach to color! During the time I attended the seminars, the IACC celebrated their 50th Anniversary. I was honored and privileged to have one of my seminar assignments chosen to display at the event in Salzburg, Austria. I became an Associate Member of the IACC-NA in 2008 and am currently researching for my thesis. In 2012 I joined the Board as Vice President and was voted in as President from 2013 - 2017. It was such a pleasure to serve with my fellow board members for such an amazing organization! Please note that I currently do not consult outside of the architect firm where I work.

For 23 years Interior Designer Sheri Peterson has built her reputation on relationships developed with clients, suppliers, and trades. With a portfolio that includes residential, commercial, and hospitality work (even a Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker ship!) her strengths are rooted in those relationships, but also her ability to envision how a space is used and what the finished result will look like. It all begins with communication. She listens to the client first and tries to make the decision-making process as quick and easy as possible. She believes in a collaborative approach, as everyone from the home or business owner to contractor and tradespeople have expertise to share. They all contribute to complete a successful job. Most importantly though, her expertise is that projects are inspired and often begin with colour. Colour and combinations of colour have an interaction with humans on all levels. If the colour is not exact, the perfect ambiance will not be created. It must be right- it’s the foundation, spirit, and mood of the project. Past commercial projects have included The Uplands Golf Club, The Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites, The Oak Bay Beach Hotel, The Accent Inns, countless professional’s offices, along with small restaurant and retail spaces. Residential Projects range from single room renovations, many high end kitchen and bathroom renovations, to new custom home construction both on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.

What do the South Boston projects, golf and the world of architecture, design and color have to do with each other? For Art Bemis, they are all connected and shaped every aspect of his life and work. Bemis received countless accolades throughout his career that spans decades, from design and color awards to winning more than 70 golf tournaments, ranking as a two time State Amateur Champion, and receiving induction into the South Boston and Rutland Hall of Fames. Despite his accomplishments, one would be hard pressed to find evidence of these credentials hanging on the wall or displayed in a case. What Bemis is proud of is his character. He is a man of his word who values integrity, trust, and being loyal… attributes that enabled him to beat the odds and survive one of the roughest neighborhoods in South Boston. It is likely no coincidence Bemis has a fond love for the only game in the world where you call your own penalties. Success in the game of golf and life relies greatly on one’s mental strength and focus, which are skills Bemis teaches his students and puts to work for his clients. Growing up in the streets of “Southie” allowed Bemis to acquire skills that far surpass his long list of educational credentials and subject matter expertise. As a young adult, Bemis was recruited from the projects to attend architectural school, which led to his involvement in the urban renewal of Boston. At the start of his career, Bemis worked for the Boston Redevelopment Authority in support of the Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall project. Later, he accepted a position in Vermont with a New York based architectural firm. As his career progressed, Bemis transitioned from the architectural field and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to open several design firms where he discovered a passion for color and its transformative abilities. Bemis created a color design program and delivered American Institute of Architects seminars across North America for many years. Sharing knowledge and the functional aspects of Color and Communication continues to inspire Bemis who is regarded as a respected industry speaker and educator. Bemis currently serves as Design Director and Owner of Bemis Resource Group, a reputable design firm known for its ability to devise solutions to the most complex design challenges. He also owns and operates The Mastery Institute, a learning center focused on the use of color and patterns and their design applications in daily environments. In 1989, Bemis worked with Sports Psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella to develop a concept referred to as “Mindset.” The revolutionary concept integrated color and design into apparel to induce optimal performance in sports, business, and life. Additionally, in 2013, Bemis Resource Group introduced an environmental color system for the island of Bermuda. The innovative system now serves as a learning segment at the Mastery Institute. During his career Bemis has served clients around the world from all industries, including many global companies, such as OMYA, STO AG, and BASF. His work includes hundreds of notable projects and he continues to work closely with company leaders to orchestrate global identity shifting and other strategies to leverage competitive market placement. Bemis has earned the trust of clients in multiple countries during engagements with several reputable companies, from The Carlstar Group, The Doblin Group, and Degussa to many other industry leading organizations. Bemis completed formal education with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Boston Architectural College and many other studies, including three years as an apprentice in typography and calligraphy with Edward Karr. Bemis studied color theory in Germany under color expert Uwe Koos. Bemis serves as Director of American Information Center for Color and Environment (AICCE) where he leads the San Diego based educational program and supports the legacy of AICCE founder Frank Mahnke. Bemis is also a speaker for American Institute of Architects, International Association of Color Consultants and Designers (IACC), and others.

I have had a passion for color and design since I was 12 years old.  Whether cutting out images from catalogs of furniture, lamps, art, etc. and adding in a wall color to design a room, or constantly resorting my own room, the love has always been there. In 2003 I graduated from Bowling Green State University and got married.  To add some adventure to the mix we decided to move to southern California where I started my first company, a successful event and wedding planning and design business.  I also freelance designed for the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel and for homes in the town of Santa Barbara. After two years of the 355 days a year of sunny skies we moved back home to Ohio to be closer to family.  I worked for a Columbus-based event and floral design company for two years where I decorated residences and designed a multitude of beautiful weddings and events.  Clients included The Ohio State University, Ohio Statehouse, Franklin Park Conservatory, and private clients throughout the city. From there...I took a break from the fantastic event design world and moved into retail, working at the Express home office and at  Anthropologie where I was the Visual Manager of Easton Town Center.  I also freelanced whenever time allowed as a Color & Design Consultant for various residential clients throughout the Columbus area. In the midst of my professional life I became the proud mom of twins.  Refocusing priorities I left the "9 - 5" world to spend more time with my kids and to concentrate on my passion for color and home design.  Warm Spaces by Design, LLC is a company 10 years in the making.  It is my hope to be brought into your home to help warm your space to be the true reflection of you   and your family.
